Astrology shows and stupidity.

Everyday, during the mornings and evenings, all our news channels invite some astrologers that host some stupid astro-shows. In India, we have a dozen news channels, so these channels have to compete with each other to stay in the race for TRP ratings. As a result, some channels invite weird looking astrologers making all kinds of abstract predictions, while some other channels invite ‘tarot’ card readers to tell our future !
No wonder, hundreds of viewers call the channels on the numbers flashed on the screens to ask personal questions relating to their future, career, academics, marriage etc !! Their stupidity amazes me !
It really makes me laugh looking at these people, who really believe that their future can be predicted ‘on the fly’ by a flip of the card or by some astrologer who is saying something, which seems incoherent to the sane mind ! It makes me wonder, how addictive and superstitious these people get even when these astrologers make statements like these:
“It might or might not happen…but it will happen if and only if that happens provided that this condition may or may not get satisfied..so you have to be somewhat careful”
Astrology and these predictions are good only if they are being looked upon as a pastime and a hobby. They can get pretty interesting sometimes..and make us laugh. But, when people start believing in them and take them seriously, it becomes a bane ! However, the TV news channels enjoy life as they get a pretty handsome viewership, and the telephone companies can hear their cash registers ring…as people try and call frantically !
I do not believe in astrological charts and their predictions. Neither do I believe in any other superstition such as tarot card readings, numerology etc. I have seen many of these predictions go haywire and totally off course many times. I think i am better off with an uncomplicated ‘astro-free’ life.

Over here they have political experts on TV all the time. They predict who will win the election in each state, which ethnic group will vote for which candidate, and when the mayor of New York, Bloomberg will join the race. They get paid a lot of money, even though they probably know as much as the Tarot readers.

Did I tell you I can read palms? Thats right! I confuse the lines a little (a lot), but if I keep a straight face, people believe me. You think I can get a spot on the news next time I am in India? LOL

Wow, you depicted the situation pictorially indeed. The title stupidity fits just perfectly here. I too don’t trust such shows.
I am convinced that lots of people too look with great suspicion towards the alike events. The last questions out of itself, where are the roots of the vitality of the fakes?
I don’t trust the astrology, but it is based on spiritual comprehension of our life, and I trust in God and His predictions- the warnings that serve the Christians as the guarding notes.
I don’t trust the astrology, but not all prophets are the fakes.
Who is right? God exists and spiritual world exist too - our life road go through the spiritual realm that is though unseen by naked eye but real and powerful.

In my opinion BELIVE in ASTROLOGY, BUT not BELIVE in T.V. SHOWS. Bcoz they can’t tell you ever what will happen exactly in your future?

Hey ayush.. i believe in astrology! infact i love watching tarot tell on the headlines channel:) however, i dont believe in the daily/monthly/yearly predictions.. but yeah, sun signs and tarot card etc are my cup of tea!

I don’t believe in astrology, it’s so stupid, especially when it comes from magazines or TV.
Sometimes it’s quite surprising how right it can be though, but it all depends on the source.

ebbtide is caused by the moon, thats another the evidence of nature.
I believe in God, and God’s creations is amazing and designed in such beautiful systems.
I wouldn’t call Astrology as a rule of life, I’d rather think that it would help me to interact with new people I met. Human has different tendencies of behaviour, phisycal look, sensibility and attitude based on the month they’re born. Believe it or not!

I have watched lots of astro shows and now tarot card shows on several channels. I feel there is a lot of pretence.Nonsense. I AGREE WITH NISHA. I REALLY LOVE TAROT TELL. On healines today, by Sheela Bajaj. The best tarot show. She touches my heart when she talks. Till date she is the best tarot reader on tv. We must have access to such people to get guidance. I really love her guidance. I even wrote an email to her and got a reading on tv, its magical once you experience. i think tv caters to too many people. meet them personally for accuracy. I agree with you nisha, SHEELA BAJAJ is the best.

I dont think astrology is logical. I believe in intelligent design. Things are predetermined in life..and they are guided by your actions. Pulling out weird cards to tell the future does not make sense.

Hello Ingrid,
I know about tarot very well, and it is a figment of one’s imagination. It is an unscientific concept. It is based on a highly predefined and probabilistic model. I challenge any Tarot reader to answer my questions and we will see how accurate the answers are. The questions will be practical and based on a short, medium and long term perspective.
